AmaraChíkà Emele-Ralph is an Igbo Nigerian writer, researcher, and cultural practitioner whose broader work explores the intersections of Black culture and design towards a more just and civil society. AmaraChíkà’s approach is multidisciplinary, having studied economics at the University of Ibadan, alma mater of renowned African writer Chinua Achebe and Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka. Inspired by Achebe, they engage Igbo spirituality to reclaim their identity and heritage. Having written for global platforms such as The Republic and FunTimes Magazine, AmaraChíkà is currently the project manager of Thrift Attic, a movement advocating for sustainable fashion practices, and content editor at Grafiki, an African creative agency. Their most recent essay publication, Exploring the Cultural Roots of Symbolism in Design (Grafiki, 2025), examines African symbolism’s influence on contemporary visual culture.
