M.C. Julie Yu

M.C. Julie Yu is a freelance masseur currently based in Amsterdam. She does not have any massage certification, but most of her living costs are earned from her massage work. Her technique seems to combine the styles of pressure point and deep tissue, as her trainer stated once casually. Yu is also an interdisciplinary art worker and novice activist. She holds a BFA in Theater Directing from Taipei National University of Arts, Taipei, Taiwan (2013) and an MA in Fine Art, HKU University of the Arts, Utrecht, the Netherlands (2020). Her work includes a wide variety of media, such as writing, audio, video, performance, and installation. Across the fields of art, culture, and massage, her recent practice focuses on personal experiences as a migrant and interdisciplinary worker, specifically related to senses of Othering in postcolonial and capitalist cultural phenomena.
