Merve Bedir is an architect based in Rotterdam, Istanbul, and Hong Kong. Her ongoing research revolves around infrastructures of hospitality and mobility in the context of the politics of urbanisation. She is an adjunct assistant professor at the Hong Kong University Department of Architecture, Division of Landscape Architecture. She holds a PhD in Architectural Engineering at Delft University of Technology, and a BArch from the Middle East Technical University in Ankara. She is a co-founder of Aformal Academy (an experimental school programme in the Pearl River Delta region), a founding member of Kitchen Workshop (focusing on the Kitchen as a cultural space in Gaziantep), a founding member of Center for Spatial Justice in Istanbul, and a founding partner of Loom in the Netherlands.
